My Top Reads.

Hey everyone! I'm going to start this blog up with a list of my top ten favorite books/series to read. Check them out! Also, I'll likely be re-posting this with added on titles if I come across another awesome book. These books are not in any particular order.

1) Insanity Saga (Guptara Twins)
I first came across this saga before it was published, the authors being good friends of mine. I got my first look into the book at the pre-release party a couple of days before the actual release of the book (and as a result I am the proud owner of a special pre-release edition of the first book, Conspiracy of Calaspia). Although only the first book has been released as of yet, I have read the second book, and I have permission to read the third when it's completed.

2) The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (J.R.R. Tolkien)
The Lord of the Rings I stumbled upon while looking through my dad's bookshelf years ago. I saw them and thought they looked cool and tried to read it, but being age 8 or 9 at the time I didn't understand what was going on and stopped. I read them for the first time all the way through when I was 12, and have re-read them a couple of times since. A truly marvellous work of fantasy.

3) The Earthsea Quartet (Ursula Le Guin)
To be honest, I can't remember where I got these books, but I read them for the first time all the way through at around the same time that I read The Lord of the Rings. Ursula Le Guin has been a favorite author of mine ever since. Yet another amazing fantasy story.

4) The Keys to the Kingdom Series (Garth Nix)
I was introduced to these in seventh grade by my friend Enrico, who was reading the first book (Mister Monday). He recommended it to me, and as a result I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for the next upcoming novel in the series ever since. It's a truly gripping series.

5) The Shining (Stephen King)
Taking a break from fantasy, The Shining is one of the best books I've ever read, although I'm not fond of all too many King books. He's written a masterpiece with The Shining, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys sleepless nights!

6) Artemis Fowl Series (Eoin Colfer)
Although these books are for an age group slightly younger than my own, I still love reading these novels, and can never put a new one down until I've finished it. It's really an interesting and original series, and I recommend it to all fiction readers!

7) Wicked (Gregory Maguire)
A great read that will completely overturn your thoughts on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz! The novel was a great success and has been made into a Broadway musical (although the stories are very different). I would recommend this to anyone who knows the story of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

8) His Dark Materials Trilogy (Phillip Pullman)
Again, books that are probably meant for a lower age group than my own, but although the writing is simple, the story is a complex one. Again, it's a great, original idea for a series, and they're now being made into Hollywood movies (which, so far, have proven to be awful. Don't watch them).
